Only a few things have not changed at all in the entire American South. The heat is always endless, the stories are long and the bikes are damn good. Believe it or not, it's been over a hundred years since pharmacist Claud A. Hatcher created this queen of drinks that has become a symbol of true Southerners.
It all started at the beginning of the 20th century in the then cradle of all wheels, the city of Columbus in the US state of Georgia. Times changed, people prospered, but the sun set just as slowly. Bicycles, a very popular novelty at the time, were a cure for almost everything. It was drunk by ordinary people as well as actors, politicians and especially southern gentlemen. They knew exactly that the best place in the world is a sun-warmed porch with a rocking chair. It was there that they spent the best moments of their lives, with no one to keep them company but a glass of chilled Coke with a few ice cubes.
By 1905, when he completed his recipe, there was such a demand for his version of Coke that the capacity of the pharmacy was no longer sufficient for such a large number of orders. So he decided to found his own beverage company, which has preserved the face of a small southern town to this day. And this despite his great successes and realized visionary ideas, such as, for example, the first light bikes or the first use of an aluminum can. Royal Crown Cola gradually reached all corners of America. It was only in the 1970s that it crossed the borders of the USA and today it is sold in more than 60 countries around the world.
