The traditional Rakovnik brewery, better known as Bakalar, is now one of the few independent industrial breweries in the Czech Republic

The brewery brews all its beers using the traditional Czech mashing method and uses the classic technology where the beer ferments in open vats and ages in storage tanks for several weeks. Only the highest quality raw materials are used to produce Czech beer, i.e. Czech malt, first-class Saaz hops and water from the brewery's own deep wells.

Due to the traditional style of brewing and the quality of its beers, the Bakalar Brewery has the right to label its products with the protected geographical indication "České pivo".
